Persevere & Citadel Court

These pics were taken from my camera phone whilst I was on the bus so they're not the best. But anyway the pics are of the big 19-story tower blocks next to Leith's Ocean Terminal, Persevere Court and Citadel Court. These blocks have not always been called that, Citadel Court used to be Thomas Fraser Court and Persevere Court was John Russel Court (thanks to 'anne' for this information). These flats were refurbished at around 1989/1990 and the crumbling grey concrete sides of the buildings were covered by metal painted blue and yellow to protect the flats from damp and prevent heat escaping.

Also, here is a picture (taken by Dave Henniker) of the flats many many years ago, before they had been refurbished. These pictures have been reduced in quality and size, please go to www.henniker.com for full size versions and many other great pics of Edinburgh and its suburbs.
